Benjamin M. Schwartz,
MD, FACOG, FACS

Dr. Benjamin Schwartz is a specialist in Gynecologic Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a
Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College
of Surgeons.

Dr. Schwartz serves as Attending in Gynecologic Oncology at Good Samaritan Hospital, Southside Hospital, North Shore University Hospital at Plainview and Syosset, New Island Hospital, St. Charles Hospital, Mather Hospital, Nassau University Medical Center, St. Catherine's of Siena, and Brookhaven Hospital. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he obtained his medical degree from the George Washington University. He then completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and served as Administrative Chief Resident. During his residency, Dr. Schwartz completed a Galloway Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, NY. He then completed subspecialty training in a three year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Schwartz currently serves as the Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. A leader in the field of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Oncology, he is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists' Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He is also certified as an "Advanced Laparoscopist" by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy. Dr. Schwartz is also a leader in the field of chemotherapy for gynecological cancers and served on the Medical Oncology Committee of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, a national collaborative group that studies experimental treatments for gynecological cancers.

Dr. Peter L. Kingan

Dr. Peter L. Kingan is a New York State licensed psychologist in counseling psychology. He is a registrant in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, a certified group psychotherapist in the National Registry of Certified Group Psychotherapists. He is a member of the Suffolk County, New York State and American Psychological associations.

Dr. Kingan graduated with a BA in psychology from the University of Arkansas, and a MA from University of West Florida and a PhD from University of Houston. Prior to coming to New York, Dr. Kingan ran a residential treatment center and was a staff member at a counseling center in Texas. After completing his Doctoral internship an SUNY Stony Brook, Dr. Kingan was a staff psychologist at Ithaca College. Since establishing a private practice in Patchogue and Manhattan, Dr. Kingan has worked with individuals, couples, groups and families. Concerns have included drug and alcohol addiction; performing, visual and literary artists with performance or productive concerns; individuals facing HIV, AIDS, cancer, health issues and death; as well as clients of all ages and diverse cultral backgrounds with anxiety, depression and interpersonal issues.

Dr. Kingan has been hosting weekly group sessions for patients and their family at Island Oncology for the past serveral years.

Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca, MD

Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca is a Board Certified Physician in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

After receiving his BA in Human Biology at University at Albany, Dr. Vacirca on to get his M.D. from St. Georges University School of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine as well as his Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at University Hospital at Stony Brook, where he was named Chief Fellow in his final year of training.

Dr. Vacirca has a faculty appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at University Hospital at Stony Brook.

Along with coauthoring numerous publications pertaining to Hematology/Oncology, Dr. Vacirca is also involved in several Clinical Research Trials as both Primary and Sub-Investigator.
